We are Pembroke Rotary<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are Rotarians – friends, neighbours and\u00a0 colleagues all working as volunteers for the good of our local community. \u00a0 Our members come from various professional and business backgrounds and we work together to provide voluntary service to others using our professional skills.\u00a0 \u00a0Rotarians help others and in so doing help one another.\u00a0 We welcome new members –\u00a0 men and women of all ages and backgrounds to join Pembroke Rotary. \u00a0 The more Rotarians there are, the more we can improve the lives of people in our local community and others around the world.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

By belonging to Pembroke Rotary you will meet new friends, be inspired and get a special sense of fulfilment from being involved with something really worthwhile.\u00a0 There is an annual subscription and all members are encouraged to attend our weekly meetings, social functions and visits.\u00a0 Post Covid-19 the Club is gradually starting to resume its activities initially by meeting regularly again in person.<\/p>\n

We Fundraise<\/h2>\n

We hold annual fundraising events – past successes have included concerts by the Cardiff Philarmonic Orchestra and balmy summer musical evenings at Manorbier Castle. We are hoping to hold an Irish Dance event now that the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.<\/p>\n

We help our Community<\/h2>\n

As well as financial support our Club enables local organisations to raise money for themselves.\u00a0 For the last few years our\u00a0 Club\u00a0 has sponsored and organised a Community Raffle for local organisations.\u00a0 \u00a0We donate the cash prizes while local businesses generously donate other raffle prizes.\u00a0 The organisation gets to keep ALL of the income derived from ticket sales with no cost to themselves.<\/p>\n

Rotary strongly encourages personal development for all young people. \u00a0\u00a0 Our\u00a0 Club\u00a0 supports the Rotary Young Leaders Awards (RYLA) course which develops confidence, social awareness and leadership skills.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Outdoor activities, problem solving challenges and social activities make for a demanding but rewarding week for up to five students each year chosen from Ysgol Harri Tudur. \u00a0 \u00a0 By the end of the week new friendships have been forged, personal aspirations met or exceeded and all the young people without fail say that they will never forget the experience.<\/p>\n

Youth Competitions<\/h3>\n

Rotary also runs several national Youth Competitions. \u00a0 Our Club supports the Youth Speaks, Young Photographer, Young Artist, Young Musician and Young Writer competitions as well as the Technical Tournament where Pembrokeshire schools compete in a design and implementation engineering project. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Drug Awareness\/Cyber Bullying Workshops<\/h3>\n

Each year Pembroke Rotary facilitates a drug awareness programme in the local primary schools to help children be aware of the dangers of drugs before their transition to a larger school.\u00a0 In addition we facilitate a Cyber Bullying workshop in Ysgol Harri Tudur. \u00a0 Sponsored by Valero and run by Theatr Fforwm Cymru these are\u00a0 unique initiatives run only by Pembroke Rotary.<\/p>\n

Proactive support for Ysgol Harri Tudur<\/h3>\n

New this year is financial and practical support for a Gardening Project in the senior school. \u00a0 Helping to supply tools, materials and advice the Club hopes that gardening skills learnt now will be skills for life later on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Where We Meet<\/h2>\n

We are meeting weekly again at either the Lamphey Hall Hotel (lunch meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays)\u00a0 or at The Helm, Pembroke Dock (evening meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays) to enjoy a good meal, good \u00a0 company and to plan and manage the club\u2019s activities helping individuals or communities who need assistance.<\/p>\n
